Innova 5310: How to perform an EVAP Test

EVAP Test

The EVAP Test function lets you initiate a leak test for the vehicle's EVAP system.

Note: The scan tool does not perform the leak test, but signals to the vehicle's onboard computer to initiate the test. The vehicle manufacturer determines the criteria and method for stopping the test once it has been started. Refer to the vehicle's service repair manual to determine the procedures necessary to stop the test.

Step 1 - Press the MENU button.

To perform an EVAP Test, press the MENU button.

Step 2 - Select System Tests, then press ENTER ↵.

The Main Menu will display.

Select System Tests, then press ENTER ↵.

Step 3 - Select EVAP Test, then press ENTER ↵.

The System Test menu will display.

Select EVAP Test then press ENTER ↵.

Step 4 - View the message indicating whether the EVAP leak test was successful.

When the EVAP leak test has been initiated by the vehicle's onboard computer, a confirmation message displays.

If the EVAP Check is not supported by the vehicle under test, an advisory message displays.

Press the MENU button to return to the Main Menu.

Note: Some vehicle manufacturers do not allow scan tools or other external devices to control vehicle systems.
