Innova 7111: How to use Special Function

Purpose

To guide users on how to use the Special Function (Special Test) while using the Innova 7111 Scan Tool Tablet.

Introduction

The Special Function is the most important and professional function in the Innova 7111 Scan Tool Tablet. This function makes the vehicle component and the control module synchronize together after repairing or replacing; resets the control module or performs the vital function affecting the vehicle's operation. The most common special functions in the Innova 7111 Scan Tool Tablet are below:

Oil Light Reset
Battery Reset
Steering Angle Sensor Calibration
Tire Pressure Monitoring System Relearn
Electric Park Braking
Anti-Braking System Bleeding

The Innova 7111 Scan Tool Tablet also has many more special functions, but this article shows the way to perform the Engine Control Module (ECM) Special Function.

Procedure

Step 1 - Connect the Innova 7111 Scan Tool scanner to the vehicle and select 'OEM Diagnostics'

First, connect the Innova 7111 Scan Tool Tablet scanner to your vehicle via the On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) connector to retrieve the vehicle's information such as Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and model.

Then, select the function 'OEM Diagnostics'.

Step 2 – Select the Engine Control Module.

The Scan Tool Tablet shows you the list of systems in your vehicle.

Next, find and select ECM - Engine Control Module.

After linking to the ECM, the Scan Tool Tablet shows a list of Diagnostic functions: Read DTCs, Erase DTCs, Live Data, Actuator Test, and Special Test.

Select the Special Test button to go to the next step.

Note: The system name Engine Control Module might be different from vehicle to vehicle.

Step 3 – Choose the function to perform.

In the Special Test, the Scan Tool Tablet shows you the list of functions.

Next, select a function to perform. In this example, here is the Evap. Leakage Test.

Step 4 - Follow the guided steps in the Innova 7111 Scan Tool Tablet to perform the function.

The Innova 7111 Scan Tool Tablet shows you a list of conditions required before performing the function.

You must ensure the vehicle’s condition matches the conditions shown on the Scan Tool Tablet.

Select the OK button to go to the next step.

Step 5 - Innova 7111 Scan Tool Tablet starts performing the function and shows the result on the screen

The Scan Tool Tablet starts to communicate with the vehicle to perform the function and shows you the result of the EVAP Leakage Test.

Next, select the OK button to finish the function.
