Innova SDS50 SDS-Tech: Powertrain and Transmission Active Test

    Purpose

    To guide users on how to perform an Actuator Test function with the Innova SDS50 SDS-Tech.

    Introduction

    The Actuator Test function, also called Active Test, is a bi-directional control test to check the functionality of actuators, relays, fuel pumps, injectors, ignition coils, and much more components. The Innova SDS50 SDS-Tech Tablet Scan Tool enables you to perform Actuator Test for Engine Control Module/ Powertrain Control Module (ECM/PCM), Transmission Control Module (TCM) system on various vehicles. It offers the most popular items in the Active Test function available for 7 vehicle makes - Chrysler, GM, Ford, Hyundai, Nissan, Toyota, and Honda.

    Examples:

    • Fuel Pump Relay
    • EVAP System
    • Compression Test
    • Depressurize Fuel System
    • Throttle Actuator Control Valve
    • Oxygen Sensor Heaters
    • Ignition Timing Retard
    • Cooling fan

    Procedure

    Step 1 - Connect the Innova SDS50 SDS-Tech Tablet Scan Tool

    Turn the ignition ON, do not start the vehicle.

    Plugging the Scan Tool into the vehicle Data Link Connector (DLC) port. Once connected, the Scan Tool begins communicating and displays “Retrieving Vehicle Information”. Once complete, the Scan Tool displays the vehicle’s Year, Make, Model, VIN, and mileage on the Vehicle Info Tab.

    Continue by tapping 'OEM Diagnostics' section.

    Step 2 – Performing Active Test for ECM/PCM, TCM Systems

    The Scan Tool lists all available systems in your vehicle.

    Tap the system you wish to perform its Active Test.

    NOTE: The system name may vary from vehicle to vehicle.







    Tap the 'Active Test' button. The specific tests available are dependent on the vehicle’s make and model.

    If Active Test are not supported for the vehicle under test, the message 'Active Test is not supported'”' displays. Tap 'Exit' button to return to the previous screen.

    Step 3 - Choose the function to perform

    The Scan Tool retrieves and displays a menu of Active Test available for the vehicle under test.

    Select the desired test. It may take a few moments to retrieve its results.

    Follow the instructions to control the vehicle actuators and components to operate as desired.

    Step 4 - Prepare the vehicle for testing, as necessary, then tap Next

    Please make sure to follow the conditions for testing.












    Then tap 'Next' button, the Scan Tool will display a control screen to perform the test.

    Step 5 - Tap the appropriate control to operate the actuator as desired

    After tapping the appropriate control, the screen will show its test results.











    Repeat this step as desired.












    Tap 'Exit' button to return to the Active Test menu.
