Innova SDS43 SDS-Inspector: Throttle Body Relearn

Purpose

To guide users on how to perform the Throttle Body Relearn function while using the Innova SDS43 SDS-Inspector Tablet Scan Tool.

Introduction

The ‘Throttle Body Relearn’ function allows you to perform calibration procedures for Electronic Control Unit (ECU) on various vehicles, to relearn the new throttle position after the throttle body is cleaned, repaired, or replaced to keep the engine idle within a specific range while using the Innova SDS43 SDS-Inspector Tablet Scan Tool.

Procedure

Step 1 - Connect Innova SDS43 SDS-Inspector Tablet Scan Tool to the vehicle and select 'Workshop Tools' function

First, connect the Innova SDS43 SDS-Inspector Tablet Scan Tool to your vehicle via the Diagnostic Link Connector (DLC) to retrieve the vehicle's information, such as VIN and On-Board Diagnostic (OBD2) information.

From the 'OBD2 Control Display' screen, press the 'Home' button, and after that select the ‘Workshop Tools' section.

Step 2 - Select the 'Throttle Body Relearn/TEC Learn' function

Select the ‘Throttle Body Relearn/TEC Learn’ item in the Workshop Tools function list and then press ‘OK’ button.

After that select ‘ECM - Engine Control Module’ item to enter the system responsible for the ‘Throttle Body Relearn/TEC Learn’ function on the vehicle. Then, press the ‘OK’ button.

NOTE: The system name differs depending on the make and model of the vehicle.

Step 3 – Choose the function to perform

The Innova SDS43 SDS-Inspector Tablet Scan Tool supports two types of Throttle Body Relearn:

On-board Diagnostic Reset
Reset Procedure

1. On-Board Diagnostic Reset

Choose the ‘Idle Learn Reset’ item then press the ‘OK’ button.

Select ‘Reset’ softkey and press ‘OK’ button to perform the function.

Wait and check the result of performing the function. Select ‘Exit’ softkey to finish the ‘Throttle Body Relearn’ function.

2. Reset Procedure

Choose the ‘Throttle Body Relearn Procedure’ item then press the ‘OK’ button.

The Scan Tool shows the procedure to perform the ‘Throttle Body Relearn’. In the procedure, there are some conditions that must be met first before performing the ‘Throttle Body Relearn’ procedure. If not, the resetting procedure will be unsuccessful.

Select ‘Next’ softkey to go to the procedure.

Following the procedure to complete the ‘Throttle Body Relearn’ function.

After that select the ‘Exit’ softkey to finish the procedure.
