Innova SDS50 SDS-Tech: Throttle Body Relearn

Purpose

To guide users on how to perform the Throttle Body Relearn function while using the Innova SDS50 SDS-Tech Tablet Scan Tool.

Introduction

The ‘Throttle Body Relearn’ function allows you to perform calibration for Electronic Control Unit (ECU) on various vehicles, to relearn the new throttle position after the throttle body is cleaned, repaired or replaced to keep the engine idle within a specific range while using the Innova SDS50 SDS-Tech Tablet Scan Tool.

Procedure

Step 1 - Connect Innova SDS50 SDS-Tech Tablet Scan Tool to the vehicle and select 'Workshop Tools' function

First, connect the Innova SDS50 SDS-Tech Tablet Scan Tool to your vehicle via the On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) connector to retrieve the vehicle's information, such as Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and model.

Then, select the 'Workshop Tools' section.

Step 2 – Choose ‘Throttle Body Relearn/TEC Learn’ function

Select the ‘Throttle Body Relearn/TEC Learn’ item in the Workshop Tools function list to perform the ‘Throttle Body Relearn’ function.

After that tap ‘ECM - Engine Control Module’ item to enter the system responsible for the ‘Throttle Body Relearn/TEC Learn’ function on the vehicle.

NOTE: The system name varies from the manufacturer, year, and model.

Step 3 – Choose the function to perform

The Innova SDS50 SDS-Tech Tablet Scan Tool supports two types of Throttle Body Relearn:

On-board Diagnostic Reset
Reset Procedure

1. On-Board Diagnostic Reset

	Select the ‘Idle Learn Reset’ function.
	Tap ‘Reset’ button to perform the function. The Scan Tool will automatically send a command to the Engine Control Module to execute the 'Throttle Body Relearn' function.
	Wait and check the result of performing the function. Tap ‘Exit’ button to finish the ‘Throttle Body Relearn’ function.

2. Reset Procedure

Select the ‘Throttle Body Relearn Procedure’ function.

The Scan Tool shows the procedure to perform the ‘Throttle Body Relearn’. In the procedure, there are some conditions that must be met first before performing the ‘Throttle Body Relearn’ procedure. If not, the resetting procedure will be unsuccessful.

Select ‘Next’ button to go to the procedure.

Following the procedure to complete the ‘Throttle Body Relearn’ function.

After that select the ‘Exit’ button to finish the procedure.
