Innova SDS43 SDS-Inspector: Maintenance Reset

    To guide users on how to perform the Maintenance Reset while using the Innova SDS43 SDS-Inspector Tablet Scan Tool.

    The Maintenance Reset Function plays an important role in the modern vehicle, which allows owners and technicians to reset various maintenance-related notifications, such as oil change reminders, tire rotation schedules, and inspection interval alerts. When a vehicle reaches a certain mileage or time interval, it may require inspection or maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, tire rotations, and more. The onboard computer system keeps track of these intervals and displays reminders to the driver through warning lights or messages on the dashboard.

    Resetting the inspection interval is important to ensure that the vehicle receives timely maintenance and to keep track of its overall health and performance. It helps drivers and mechanics stay organized and adhere to the manufacturer's recommended service intervals, which can contribute to the longevity and reliability of the vehicle.

    So, this article shows you how to use the Innova SDS43 SDS-Inspector Tablet Scan Tool to perform the Maintenance Reset function on a vehicle.

    Procedure

    Step 1 - Connect the SDS43 SDS-Inspector Tablet Scan Tool to the vehicle and select 'Workshop Tools'

    First, connect the Innova SDS43 SDS-Inspector Tablet Scan Tool to your vehicle via the Diagnostic Link Connector (DLC) to retrieve the vehicle's information, such as VIN and On-Board Diagnostic (OBD2) information.

    To access the ‘Workshop Tools’, from the Home Screen, select 'Workshop Tools' section and press the ‘OK’ button.

    Step 2 – Select the ‘Maintenance Reset’ function

    The Innova SDS43 SDS-Inspector Tablet Scan Tool offers a range of features, including 12 Service Reset functions, as well as the Vehicle Inspection and Battery/Alternator Test functions, as illustrated in the image. To initiate the Maintenance Reset function, you can choose the 'Maintenance Reset' item from the list.

    After that select ‘ECM - Engine Control Module’ item after that press the ‘OK’ button to enter the system responsible for the ‘Maintenance Reset’ function on the vehicle.

    NOTE: The system name differs depending on the make and model of the vehicle.

    Step 3 - Choose the function to perform

    The Scan Tool will display some functions available on your vehicle.

    Choose the desired function to perform. In this case, select the ‘Fuel Filter Life Reset’ item after that press the ‘OK’ button.

    Step 4 – Perform the ‘Maintenance Reset’ function 

    Wait the Scan Tool communicates with the vehicle to check the Fuel Filter Life status and shows as in the image.

    After that select the ‘Input New Value’ softkey and press the ‘OK’ button to input the new value of the Fuel Filter.

    NOTE: Prioritize replacing the fuel filter before proceeding with the 'Fuel Filter Life Reset' function to guarantee accurate fuel filter status for future maintenance.

    Select ‘Next’ softkey and press the ‘OK’ button to go the next step.

    In this screen, input the new value of the Fuel Filter Life and select ‘Perform Reset’ softkey and press the ‘OK’ button to perform the function.

    Wait the Scan Tool communicate with the vehicle and write the new value into the Engine Control Unit (ECU) memory.

    After that select the ‘Exit’ softkey and press ‘OK’ button to exit the function.
