Innova 5410: How to Replace Batteries

Replace batteries when the battery symbol is visible on the screen display and/or if all three LED lights are lit and no other data is visible on the screen.

Note: Batteries aren't required for our scan tools to work with OBD2 certified vehicles. Our scan tools receive power from the OBD2 port which gets its power from the vehicle's accessory fuses. Batteries are only needed for reading OBD1 vehicles and powering on the scan tool to look at stored vehicle data from previous vehicles. The 5410 stores data for 3 vehicles at a time in its memory even without batteries. Once a 4th vehicle is scanned, its data will replace the oldest vehicle data stored in scan tool.

Follow the procedures below:

Locate the battery cover on the back of the Scan Tool.
Use a screwdriver to open and slide the battery cover off.
Replace batteries with three AA-size batteries (for longer life, use Alkaline-type batteries).
Reinstall the battery cover on the back of the Scan Too with a screwdriver.
