Innova 7111: How To Perform Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) Calibration
Purpose:
To guide you on how to perform Electronic Parking Brake Calibration while using the Innova 7111 Tablet.
Introduction
Today's Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) is popular on new cars. An EPB is an electronically controlled parking brake, whereby the driver uses the EPB button to activate the brakes to the rear wheels. The electronic control unit (ECU) and actuator mechanism are linked to accomplishing this function. There are two mechanisms in production: Cable puller systems using a mechanical pulling device in the ECU; and Caliper integrated systems that electronically actuate the brakes from within the caliper assembly.
This article shows you how to perform the Parking Brake Calibration on a 2020 Cadillac CT4 using the Innova 7111 Scan tool. Parking Brake Calibration may be required after certain service procedures are performed, such as:
- Parking brake actuator replacement
- Rear brake pad replacement
- Rear brake rotor replacement
- Rear brake caliper replacement
