Innova 7111: Troubleshooting When the VCI Connector is Not Recognized in Software Version V1.60.00

Purpose:

To fix the “do not recognize VCI” issue by guiding users on how to update the Innova 7111 scan tool software from version V1.60.00 to version V1.86.03.

Procedure:

Note: Before performing the update process, please make sure that the tablet is connected to Wi-Fi.

Step 1 – Connect the VCI Connector to the Tablet


  • Slide the VCI connector into the tablet to attach it. You will hear a click once the connector is fully engaged.

Step 2 – Check and Update the Tablet’s Software to Version V1.80.0

  • On the scan tool, select the “hamburger” icon on the top left and tap “Settings”.
  • Scroll down and tap the “Check for Updates” button to start the update.
  • A confirmation pop-up screen appears. Select “Update” to confirm the update.
  • An “Updating” progress bar appears while the tablet completes.

Step 3 – Confirm the Update & VCI Connection


  • Once the update successfully completes, the home screen should display all its tiles in full color (see the corresponding image).
  • Next, tap the “hamburger” icon on the top left of the screen to open the menu.
  • Tap “Settings” and scroll to view the Software Version.










  • If the Software Version displays V1.80.00, the update was successful.

Note: If the FW/ DB/ BL sections show N/A, remove the VCI connector then slide back in and check again.

Step 4 – Update the Tablet to the Latest Software Version

  • Perform Steps 1 to Step 3 to update the tablet’s software version from V1.80.00 to V1.86.03.
  • Once complete, confirm the update by seeing that the Software Version reads V1.86.03.
