Innova 5110: When to Perform a Complete Drive Cycle

Introduction

When there are Drive Cycle Monitors that indicate a failing or incomplete result when scanned with the Innova 5110, a complete drive cycle must be completed. The following vehicle systems are considered as the Drive Cycle Monitor that is checked during a scan to perform a complete Drive Cycle:

  • MIS - Misfire Monitor
  • FUE - Fuel System Monitor
  • CCM - Comprehensive Component Monitor
  • EVA - Evap System Monitor
  • 02S - Oxygen Sensor Monitor
  • HTR - Oxygen Sensor Heater Monitor
  • EGR - EGR System Monitor
  • CAT - Catalyst Monitor

These monitors are shown on the display screen of the Innova 5110. If any of the monitor symbols are blinking on the display screen, this means that specific monitor(s) is incomplete, and requires more testing to determine if a code is truly present, or if it's a false alarm. Also, the yellow LED light will be lit up in the middle of the tool if there are pending codes being tested.

You need to complete what is known as a drive or trip cycle to complete the testing. To be ready for an emissions test, the goal is to make sure none of those monitors are blinking, but solid. To know how to perform a complete drive cycle, visit Complete Drive Cycle Procedures
