Innova 5210: Performing a Battery Test
Step 1 - Press the MENU button.
- To navigate to the Battery Test procedures, press the MENU button.
Step 2 - Select Battery/Alternator Test, then press Select ENTER ↵.
The Main Menu will display.
Scroll through the screen using the DOWN ▼ button.
Select Battery/Alternator Test, then press ENTER ↵.
- Select Battery/Alternator Test, then press Select ENTER ↵.
Step 3 - Select Battery Test, then press ENTER ↵.
The Battery/Alternator Monitor Menu will display.
Select Battery Test, then press ENTER ↵.
Step 4 - Follow the instructions.
An Instructional message displays, showing the procedures to prepare the vehicle for the battery check.
Scroll using the DOWN ▼ button and choose ENTER ↵after reading all instructions.
- Turn on the headlights and choose Continue.
A Countdown message shows while the battery check is in process.
Note: If the battery voltage is less than 12.1 volts, an advisory message will show. Select Main Menu to return to the Main Menu. Turn the ignition off and disconnect the 5210 from the vehicle. Fully charge the battery, then repeat the battery check.
If the battery voltage is greater than 12.1 volts, an 'instructional' message shows.
- Turn the vehicle’s headlights off, then choose Enter ↵ to proceed.
An Instructional message will show.
Start the vehicle’s engine. Allow the engine to run for several seconds, then turn the engine off. Repeat for a total of three Start/Stop cycles.
Note: If the 5210 did not detect Cranking Status for the vehicle’s engine, an advisory message will show. Select Enter ↵ to repeat the battery check, or, choose Menu to return to the Main Menu.
Step 5 - View Results.
When the battery check is complete, a results screen displays the battery status. The System Status LEDs provide a Pass or Fail indication, as follows:
- Green = Good
- Yellow = Normal
- Red = Warning/Bad
