Innova 7111: Battery Test
Purpose
To guide you on how to check the battery status.
Introduction
The battery is a crucial component in a vehicle's electrical system, as it provides power for starting the vehicle and supporting systems like the headlights and air conditioner fan while the engine is not running. The Innova 7111 Scan Tool Tablet's Battery Test feature allows us to assess the battery's current status, which can give us an idea of its performance in the future.
This article guides you through the process of using the Battery Test function on a 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross L4 1.5L.
Procedure
Step 1 - Connect the Innova 7111 Scan Tool Tablet to the vehicle and select 'Workshop Tools'
First, connect the Innova 7111 Scan Tool Tablet to your vehicle via the Diagnostic Link Connector (DLC) to retrieve the vehicle's information such as Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and model.
Then, select the function 'Workshop Tools'.
Step 2 – Perform the Battery Test
- Tap the 'Battery/ Alternator Test' function to perform the Battery Test function.
- Now, choose the 'Battery Test' function.
Step 3 - Follow the requirements before testing
- Ensure that your vehicle meets the requirements listed in the pop-up screen. If requirements are not met, you will not be able to proceed. Then, tap the 'Continue' button to proceed to the next step.
Step 4 – Turn ON the headlights
- Turn ON the headlights. Select the ‘Continue’ button and wait for 20 seconds.
- After waiting 20 seconds, turn OFF the headlights and tap the 'Continue' button to go to the next step.
Step 5 – Start the engine
- Within 30 seconds after turning OFF the headlight, you must turn the key ON to continue performing the testing.
Note: Do not need to turn OFF any accessories because they will be turned OFF when starting automatically.
Step 6 – View the result
Just wait for a while, the test result will be presented as an image.
The Battery Test function has test results that fall into three categories: Pass, Warning and Fail.
- Pass: The battery has passed the test.
- Warning: Charge the battery and retest.
- Fail: Replace the battery.
