Innova 7111: How to check the Hybrid/ EV battery cell voltage

Purpose:

To guide you on how to check the Hybrid/EV battery cell voltage while using the Innova 7111 Tablet.

Introduction

Your car is an electric vehicle (EV), a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), or a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), and for various reasons, you want to inspect your battery pack's state of health.

Fortunately, this article will help you check the health of the battery pack with the Innova 7111 scan tool.

  • Some significant signs that the Electric/ Hybrid battery is failing:
    • State of charge change suddenly
    • Red triangle/ check engine light on the dashboard
    • Reduced vehicle range with a fully charged battery

Procedures:

Step 1 - Select 'Workshop Tools'

  • Turn on the ignition but do not start the vehicle.
  • Turn on the 7111 scanner then connect to your OBD2 port and wait for the tool to detect your vehicle.
  • Select 'Workshop Tools.'

Step 2 - Select the 'EV/HEV/PHEV Battery Health' option

  • Select function 'EV/HEV/PHEV Battery Heath.'

Step 3 - View the 'Cell Voltage' value on tool

  • At this step, user can review and check the heath of battery already.
  • The screen shows all the information of the battery pack. The number of cell and voltage of each cell is displayed very clear on the screen. User can realize a bad cell when it has voltage is different from others.

Step 4 - View the 'Cell Voltage' value in the 'Graph' formatting

  • This excellent graph screen shows the cell voltage in column with the voltage value on top. It makes more easy for user to view and realize a bad cell when it has voltage is different from all others.

Step 5 - Easy to Realize A Bad Cell

  • If your battery pack has one or more bad cell, these bad cells could have lower voltage than others. User can be noted because the bad cells are in red columns.
  • Start inspecting the battery pack and something related to solve this problem.
