Innova SDS50 SDS-Tech: Powertrain and Transmission Special Function
Purpose
To guide users on how to perform the Special Function while using the Innova SDS50 SDS-Tech Tablet Scan Tool.
Introduction
The Special Function allows you to perform diagnostic and calibration for Engine Control Module/Powertrain Control Module (ECM/PCM), Transmission Control Module (TCM) systems on various vehicles. It offers the most popular items in the Special Function available for 7 vehicle makes - Chrysler, GM, Ford, Hyundai, Nissan, Toyota, and Honda.
This article shows the way to perform the Special Function in the ECM system on the 2015 Chevrolet Equinox.
Procedure
Step 1 - Connect Innova SDS50 SDS-Tech Tablet Scan Tool to the vehicle and select 'OEM Diagnostics' function
First, connect the Innova SDS50 SDS-Tech Tablet Scan Tool to your vehicle via the On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) connector to retrieve the vehicle's information, such as Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and model.
Then, select the function 'OEM Diagnostics'.
Step 2 – Performing Special Function for ECM/PCM, TCM Systems
- The Scan Tool lists all available systems in your vehicle.
- Select ‘ECM-Engine Control Module’ system to perform its Special Function.
- NOTE: The system name may vary from vehicle to vehicle.
- Tap the ‘Special Function’ button. The available specific tests vary based on the make and model of the vehicle.
- If Special Function is not supported for the vehicle under test, the message ‘Special Function is not supported’ displays. Tap ‘Exit’ button to return to the previous screen.
Step 3 – Choose the function to perform
- The Scan Tool retrieves and displays a menu of Special Function available for the vehicle.
- Select the desired test to perform. It may take a few moments to retrieve its results.
- Follow the instructions to perform the Special Function as desired.
Step 4 – Perform the Special Function
- Follow instructions on the screen to meet the condition of the Special Function process.
- Tap ‘Reset’ button to perform the function.
Step 5 – Check the result
- Wait for the Scan Tool to communicate with the vehicle, after that check the result that is displayed on screen.
- When the process is completed, tap the ‘Exit’ button to finish the process.
- If the process is not completed, turn back and make sure the conditional requirement is met. After that perform the function again.
