Purpose

To guide you on how to check the alternator status while using the Innova SDS43 SDS-Inspector Tablet Scan Tool.

Introduction

In addition to the battery, the alternator serves as the crucial centerpiece of the automotive electrical system. It not only provides power for charging the vehicle’s battery and supporting other systems but also ensures a consistent supply of electricity for a wide range of components, from the ignition system to the entertainment features. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to ensure the proper functioning of the alternator in all conditions, to prevent unexpected situations while driving.

This article guides you through the process of performing the Alternator Test function while using the SDS43 SDS-Inspector Tablet Scan Tool.

  • For Good status, the charging voltage meets the specifications; the alternator and the charging system are working well.
  • For a Voltage High status, the charging voltage is not within the normal range. This could indicate a problem with the alternator or charging system components. To ensure the proper functioning of your charging system, inspect it for any defects or have it inspected at a certified repair center.
  • For a Voltage Low status, the charging voltage is higher or lower than the safe limit, which may harm the battery or other electrical components. To avoid damage, check your charging system, alternator, or components, or have them inspected by a certified repair center.

Step 7 – View Alternator Live Data
