Recording Live Data by Manual Trigger

This option lets you select the precise time at which the Live Data recording will occur. Recording by Manual Trigger can be a very valuable tool when troubleshooting intermittent problems that do not meet the requirements for a DTC to set. The 5610 is capable of recording approximately 100 frames of Live Data.

Step 1 -  Press the LD button
  • Once the 5610 has established communication with the vehicle while the engine is running, press the LD button.

  • Alternatively, you can press the OBD II Menu button to access the OBD II Menu, then scroll down & select Live Data - Mode 01 & press ENTER ↵ to view global live data.
  • A One moment please message will display while the 5610 establishes communication with the vehicle.
  • If the 5610 fails to establish communication with the vehicle's computer, a Communication Error message will display.
    • Ensure the vehicle is OBD2 compliant.
    • Verify the connection at the DLC, and verify the ignition is ON.
    • Turn the ignition OFF, wait 5 seconds, then back ON to reset the computer.
    • Press ENTER ↵ to continue.

Step 2 - Select Record Manually
  • The Live Data Menu will display.
  • Select Record Manually, then press ENTER ↵.

Step 3 - Scroll through the available PIDs
  • The Select PIDs to Record screen will display.
  • Press UP ▲ and DOWN ▼ to scroll through the available PIDs.
  • When a PID you wish to record is highlighted, press ENTER ↵. Repeat until all the PIDs you want to record are selected. A Checkmark icon will show confirming your selection.
  • To record all PIDs, select Record All PIDs.
  • To deselect a PID, highlight the PID, then press ENTER ↵. The checkmark is removed.

Step 4 - Select Done to continue

  • When you are finished making your selections, select Done to continue.
  • Press the Live Data Menu button if you wish to go back to the Live Data Menu.
  • The Record Live Data screen will display.
  • Press the Record button to begin recording.
  • Press the Back button to return to the Select PID screen.

Step 5 - A progress message will show on the display
  • Place the engine in the operating condition where the problem manifests itself. If necessary, drive the vehicle until you reach the vehicle speed at which the problem occurs.
  • Press the Stop/Save button to stop and/or save.

Step 6 - Select Yes to playback or No to return to the Live Data menu
  • When the recording is complete, a confirmation screen will display.
  • Select Yes to playback Live Data (see How to Playback Live Data for details) or No to return to the Live Data menu.
  • If the recording was not successful, an advisory message will display. If so, press the Continue button to return to the Live Data menu.
